Jamaica

I had always dreamed of being able to rhyme “gurney” with “attorney.” My wish came true on May 23, 2008. The story is so vague that even I’m not sure what it’s about. Musically, I had the chord progression and melody, but the hook came when Byon devised yet another catchy guitar riff. One of the Nerve songs that continues to be played by The Wetsuits.

As you’re wheeled out on the gurney

You’re holding the hand of your attorney

The original plan had you taking the stand

To bring down the man who tried to take her

Had you only known your cover’d be blown

You’d’ve probably flown to Jamaica

You finally could breathe once you reached the salt air

A day after you said what you said at the altar

The original plan had you taking the stand

To bring down the man who tried to take her

Had you only known your cover’d be blown

You’d’ve probably flown to Jamaica

It’s all drinks and fun

You think you know someone…

He didn’t ask for permission

To send you out on a mission

The original plan had you taking the stand

To bring down the man who tried to take her

Had you only known your cover’d be blown

You’d’ve probably flown to Jamaica
