Hot Spell Blues

This is a ridiculous blues number written sometime in the ’90s. The Nerve played it often.

Open the window, turn on the fan

Pull off the covers if you can

You know I love you so much but it’s too hot for us to touch,

you understand

Not long ago I held you tight

But it was sixty Fahrenheit

When it’s cool, not like an oven, that’s when I get into loving you all night

This humidity is affecting you and me

I’m looking forward to long cool spell

If we weren’t roasting I’d be loving you the most

But I feel as though we’re sitting in a sauna in hell

I want you baby, I’m on my knees

Listen to my melting pleas

I want it sooner than later, open the refrigerator baby, please – baby please

This humidity is affecting you and me

I’m looking forward to long cool spell

If we weren’t roasting I’d be loving you the most

But I feel as though we’re sitting in a sauna in hell

Thank you baby, that was nice

You made good use of that tray of ice

Now I don’t have a care thanks to our Frigidaire paradise
